Urban Ecology in Arid Cities

Do cities in arid regions require a different development mindset? How can these cities think differently about their ecology? Huda Shaka discusses how some cities in these regions can think differently.

Huda Shaka is an experienced sustainability and urban planning consultant, based in Dubai.  She advises on large-scale master planning and infrastructure projects as well as city and regional policy frameworks across the Arabian Gulf.  Huda has a master’s degree in urban planning from the Bartlett, UCL, a master’s degree in chemistry from the University of California, Irvine and a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and public health from the American University of Beirut.
